Sophie Update

Hello cat people.

Dan The Cat Man here.

I’m afraid I have some bad news I wanted to share about Sophie.

The Queen of my household.

My best friend.

My best girl of the past decade.

Last Friday, Sophie was diagnosed with a form of cancer that is terminal.

I don’t see the point in going into detail about which form of cancer.

Suffice it to say it’s affected her digestive system and her mouth and is causing her dental pain and mouth issues.

There is no recovery from this.

It is fast acting and terminal.

Sophie has weeks, perhaps a few months at most.

I am beside myself with grief, shock, and anger.

Sophie is 14, so I knew she had more years behind her than ahead.

Still, this came out of nowhere.

Fuck cancer.

Fuck everything about cancer.

For now, Sophie is home, and I am managing her pain and helping her as best as I can.

She is comfortable, on medication for her pain and a few infections, and in her favorite spots and still Sophie.
