Update: An Untriumhpant Return To Online Dating
2 min readFeb 20, 2022
One week later, a small update on the state of my dating life.
Or….the state of the dating apps.
Already deleted are:
- Tinder. Just fucking awful. Like SO awful, I literally deleted the profile and the app. Nothing but fake profiles or fake people, or people trying to push their insta. No thanks.
- Baboo: No traction whatsoever, so almost as awful as Tinder, but not quite. Anyone I did connect with spoke Spanish, which I do not speak fluently. So….deleted.
- Happn: wasn’t….happning. Or rather…happening. Just a dumb concept. Deleted.
- POF: nothing but dead fish, or sharks, in this sea. Deleted. A waste of time in 2005 and a waste of time in 2022. Deleted.
About to be deleted:
- Bumble. No buzz, people like me but don’t message so what’s the fucking point? About to be deleted.
- Coffee Meets Bagel, or CMB: Same as Bumble. A decent number of likes, but there’s that whole not messaging thing again, or responding to a message. Why like if you’re not going to follow through? About to be deleted.
Not deleting:
- Facebook dating: again, very much a pleasant surprise. Talking to lots of decent people, one or two of whom I might want to meet. A surprising lack of fakes.
- Hinge: again, a surprising lack of fakes, and also talking to a few decent people, one of which I am actually looking forward to possibly meeting.
So there you have it. Basically….all these apps/platforms STINK, some just stink less than others. I remain less than enthused about meeting anyone, and just having fun without any pressure.
Stay tuned!
